rFactor Servers DaDs Racing Information

rFactor is a racing simulation designed with the ability to run any type of vehicle from street cars to open wheel cars of any era. More information can be found here at the Official rFactor website and the rFactor Wiki. The full v1255 install of the game can be downloaded HERE.

The DaDs Army has a history of online racing. See the DaDs Army Promotional Video Here. rFactor offers the ability to race on virtually any track with any vehicle. Below you'll find information on our servers, mods, tracks, and short-cuts.

Connecting to DaDs rFactor Servers:

Server Name: TheDaDsArmy.net Racing #1 - Server ONE
IP Address: 69.28.220.115 Port: 0
Password: **********

Server Name: TheDaDsArmy.net Racing #2 - Server TWO

Server 1 runs in ALL CARS MODE which means it hosts several different car mods (ie: go-karts, porches, sprint & legends cars). Server 2, 3, and 4 are set up to run single car mods (ie: Indy, F1, NAGT).

NOTE: Not all above servers may be running at all times. Contact a DaDs member with server access to start a server if you want to get a particular race series mod started.

The following shortcut will launch you directly into the DaDs server. Just make a copy of your existing desktop shortcut and call it DaDs rFactor. Then make sure it looks exactly like the lines below unless you installed in a different directory.

MAKE NOTE OF THE DIFFERENT PORT ADDRESS ON THE SECOND SHORT CUT!

TheDaDsArmy.net Racing #1 - Server ONE
"C:\Program Files\rFactor\rFactor.exe" +connect 69.28.220.115:0 +password "********"

TheDaDsArmy.net Racing #2- Server TWO

By the way, for those of you with dual/quad cores you can also add the line +fullproc to your launch shortcut to have the program better utilize multiple cores.

Speed Up Your Load Time:

To further speed up your load time you can bypass the intro movies when loading the game. Delete the files inside the \rFactor\MovieFiles folder of your installation. Be sure to look there after loading a new MOD as the developers like to put new files there.

Custom Mods (cars) and Tracks:

The custom mods and tracks server runs the files you see below. The rule of thumb here is if you see a file in the web directories listed below then they are loaded on the modded server:

CAR MOD DOWNLOAD FOLDER:

www.thedadsarmy.net/files/rfactor/cars/

and

TRACKS DOWNLOAD FOLDER:

www.thedadsarmy.net/files/rfactor/tracks/

When you install a MOD make sure if it asks for the location of rfactor on your PC you browse to that location and make sure it is right.

The modded cars are put inside of this folder:
C:\Program Files\rFactor\GameData\Vehicles

The tracks get put inside of this folder:
C:\Program Files\rFactor\GameData\Locations

Its a good idea for you to click around the above folders on your PC. Get accustomed to what the other folders look like inside. This will help you trouble shoot any error you will come up against if your mod or track is loaded in the wrong place. Download from DaDs server below to ensure we all are on the same versions! THIS POST MAY CONTAIN NEW OR UPDATED INFORMATION IN THE FUTURE.

The information and images below are to help new drivers to rFactor install new TRACKS and CAR MODS that are loaded on the DaDs Racing servers.

The first thing you should do is become familiar with your rFactor installation folder. For the purpose of this instruction we will assume a default location. Look at the image below and look at the folders listed.

You’ll notice the USERDATA folder where your profile is stored, the GAMEDATA folder where tracks and mods are stored, and the RFM folder where occasionally you might have to drag a file to.

Typically when installing a CAR MOD there is a self installer, and it will ask you for your rFactor installation folder. The image above shows the location where the installer is looking.

Next we move to the GAMEDATA folder.

Notice the two folders within this folder. You see LOCATIONS, where tracks are located, and VEHICLES where car mods are located. You should become familiar with the layout of these folders to be able to check any future issues with mod or track installations.

Your VEHICLES folder will contain the car mods, and the folder names will identify what car mods are installed.

Click through a few of your default car folders to see how the structure is laid out. This will educate you in case you need to troubleshoot an installation in the future when a copy and paste has gone wrong.

Your LOCATIONS folder contains all of the tracks installed. Look at the image below to see that the LOCATIONS folder is located within the GAMEDATA folder.

Typically when installing a track you want to either extract the contents of the .zip or .rar file to a temporary folder, see how it is structured, and then copy it to the LOCATIONS folder. Or, from within winrar drag the folder right from the winrar window right to the LOCATIONS folder window you would have open on your desktop. Either will work. The important thing to know is, how the folders are laid out and how they should look.

The image below will display what the Lime rock track folder looks like inside once you click on it:

Usually there are one or more folders within, and several single files that are part of the track files. This is the most common folder structure for tracks. Occasionally there may be an extra folder level. Be sure to check any READ ME files when you are about to install a new track.

Typically if you get an error during load it’s because rFactor is looking for the track files in a folder that is not correct. This is why it’s important to click around through the other default track folders and get an understanding for how they are structured, and laid out visually. You’ll be able to troubleshoot your own mistakes much easier.
